$ 1 billion in illegal pot seized from largest Los Angeles County bust
The largest illegal marijuana traffic in Los Angeles County history – which brought in 373,000 plants that would have ended up worth $ 1 billion on the streets – has eradicated only a fraction of the illicit crops in the high desert of Southern California, authorities said on Wednesday. The problem is vast in the Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles, officials said, and has increased dramatically during the coronavirus pandemic. Members of armed cartels manage massive illegal crops, some covering dozens of greenhouses, which are damaging the state’s legal marijuana market.
