The superstar Jennifer Lopez and former baseball star Alex Rodriguez in the New York Yankees said, Saturday, March 13, 2021, that they are still related, but are working to settle some matters, after it was reported that they separated after nearly four years together.
The TMZ website, which covers celebrity news, and the New York Post’s “page 6” and several entertainment sites, on Friday quoted sources close to the couple – who did not disclose them – saying that the couple had canceled their engagement.
Representatives of Lopez and Rodriguez did not respond to requests for comment. According to celebrity news website PAGE SIX, lawyers and business managers of the duo have separated their financial assets over the past week.
The song “Love Costs Nothing”
Lopez, known as A-Rudd, owner of the song “Love Does Not Cost Nothing”, began dating in early 2017, and announced their engagement in March 2019.
While the couple said in a statement, published by People magazine, today, Saturday, that they are “working to settle some matters.”
On the other hand, an unnamed source told the magazine that the two had not officially separated, but they talked about it. He added that “their association faces many problems.” He said the rumors linking A-Rode to a reality TV star “has absolutely nothing to do with these problems.”
Division of assets
A source told Page Six: “There have been feverish meetings in the past few days about how their assets are divided … Jennifer and Alex were working together on many commercial projects and real estate deals.”
The British newspaper “Daily Mail” also said that the 51-year-old actress and singer, and the 45-year-old former “Yankee” star, are now facing a new challenge, which is to divide their vast financial assets.
The source told the magazine: “She works in the Dominican Republic and he is in Miami, so it is difficult to see each other, especially with the conditions of quarantine and Covid.”
Lopez, who sang at US President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January late last year, said she and A-Rudd twice postponed their marriage due to the pandemic.
Lopez, meanwhile, began her career as a dancer and singer, producing and starring in the 2019 movie “Hustlers”.
Rodriguez retired in 2016, after a 22-year career.
