I don’t care about fashion. Ask my wife. Nonetheless, I had vaguely heard of Alexander McQueen, the Pisces fashion designer, who apparently took his own life, on the eve of his mother’s funeral. And looking at the newspapers, his death is a big story. So it seems appropriate to look at his horoscope and see if astrology can give any clues about his untimely death.
Alexander McQueen was born on March 17, 1969. We do not have a confirmed birth time for him, although some suggest it was 10:45 pm.
But no matter what time of day or night, Alexander McQueen was born, he was Pisces. In fact, he was born just before a solar eclipse and he also has the Moon in Pisces, as well as Mercury.
If you want to be a fashion designer then Pisces is a great star sign to have. Pisces are very sensitive, and they know what is beautiful without having to think about it. They are also able to tap into larger collective currents, which puts them in touch with the popular mood.
Still, I wouldn’t consider Alexander McQueen to have a happy horoscope.
On the one hand, his Sun Pisces is close to the fixed star Scheat, which has a rather unfortunate reputation. Vivian Robson, fixed star expert, said of Scheat:
It causes extreme woes, murders, suicides and drownings.
However, what really stands out in Alexander McQueen’s horoscope is a conjunction between Venus and Saturn, in Aries. Neither planets perform well in this sign, and at times he may feel estranged from those around him.
On the other hand, Venus is the planet of beauty, and it is intimately linked to fashion. On some level, her preoccupation with fashion was probably compensation, an attempt to connect with something that was psychologically missing. Hence the dedication and hard work.
When it comes to Alexander McQueen’s death, there’s no doubt he was going through a rough patch. Since late 2008, there has been an aspect of stressful opposition between the planets Saturn and Uranus, which has negatively impacted its Sun and Moon in Pisces.
In addition, there is an ancient astrological technique called profections and according to this system, his native conjunction Venus-Saturn was profected to an opposition from his Moon. Profections are often used for timing, and they suggest that the first few months of 2010 could have been problematic for him.
In astrology, the Moon is related to the mother and we have the symbolism of the death of her mother. However, I am not convinced that the astrological situation was dire. Alexander McQueen was struggling with bad energy, but with no confirmed birth time, I don’t believe his death was fatal. In other words, he probably had a choice.
